WE DAY Kentucky is a cause-inclusive program whose mission is to help develop engaged citizens and build today's and tomorrow's leaders trough service; by inspiring and empowering young people across the state of Kentucky to find their spark, and to feel that they are never too young to make a positive difference in our world.  You can't buy a ticket to WE DAY, you earn it through service - one local project and one global project.

Students first determine the issue(s) they are passionate about, identify the need(s) they wish to address and finally plan and execute a service campaign or project to address the issue.  Having thus earned their ticket, they celebrate their service and leadership by attending WE DAY with their peers.

Our objective since we began the WE DAY KY Movement in 2012 has been to bring the global WE DAY platform, created by one of the world’s leading youth empowerment organizations, Free The Children, to the state of Kentucky.  The first mini WE DAY KY took place at the Muhammad Ali Center in April 2013, at which 175 students from 20 schools around Jefferson County celebrated their commitment to service during the school year.  The celebration moved to the Kentucky Center in 2014 and has doubled each year.  On April 20th 2017, over 2400 students and educators from as many as 61 counties around Kentucky will come together at the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts to celebrate their commitment to service.  They will be celebrated by renowned local and global inspirational speakers and performers, and they will hear from their peers  - students from around the state who are making a difference in their local communities and beyond.
