Saint Katharine Drexel Fund

“Honoring our children’s teachers”

The St. Katharine Drexel Fund will annually make awards of at least $500.00 to all Archdiocese of Louisville elementary school teachers reaching milestones of 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, and 45 years of service. The award is to show appreciation and gratitude for their dedication, commitment, and sacrifice to Catholic education.

Patron Saint:  Saint Katharine Drexel, S.B.S. (November 26, 1858 - March 3, 1955) was an American heiress, philanthropist, religious sister, educator, and foundress of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament. She fought for social justice, especially in the area of education. She was canonized by the Roman Catholic Church in 2000 and her feast day is observed on March 3. She was the second canonized saint to have been born in the United States and the first to have been born a United States citizen.

The founders of the St. Katharine Drexel Fund wish to remain anonymous.
