Dear Family & Friends,

Hard to imagine that 2018 is year seven since Brandon was killed on the battlefield in Afghanistan on August 25, 2011.  This January 24th would have been his 28th birthday.   Brandon will forever be 21.

As some of you may know, there are two annual awards in place that honor Brandon’s life and legacy.  At Apollo High School, two students are selected annually to receive the Brandon Mullins Memorial Scholarship and to date, ten students have received this award. Through the Owensboro Hockey League, three students are selected each year to share in the award called the Brandon Mullins Leadership Award.  These funds go toward hockey fees and to date twelve students have earned this award.

We are hoping this year to start an endowment fund so that these scholarship awards can go on forever.  The endowment fund will be started at the Green River Area Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Louisville.  If we raise $50,000 the endowment fund should support an annual distribution of $1,000 to Apollo High School and $1,000 to the Owensboro Ice Foundation.

Will you help us?  If Brandon’s story has touched your heart in some way, we would like to invite you to be a part of his legacy by contributing in some way. Please consider the following amounts for a contribution:

$21          Brandon who will forever be 21

$113          Representing the 113 Kentucky military killed since 9/11

When this fund is completed, a plaque will be presented to both Apollo High School and the Owensboro Hockey League containing all the names of those who have made this possible.  Brandon’s sacrifice for our country will never be forgotten and and his legacy will live on in our community for years to come.

Thank you.

The Family of SPC Brandon Scott Mullins
